JAVA Applets for "Systems and Signals"
("Systemen en Signalen", vakcode 150529)
Systems and Signals is a new course at the Computer Science Department ("Informatica") and provided by the Department of Mathematical Sciences, Systems Signals and Control Group.
To support the lectures and help develope a better understanding You can find several JAVA applets on this site.
The currently running Java applets are:
Sjava-f1: Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT of basic signals as Dirac delta etc.),
Sjava-f2: Discrete Fourier Transform, Version 2,
Sjava-f3: Sum of periodic time signals,
Sjava-f4: Fourier series of a square-wave (the Gibbs phenomenon),
Sjava-f5: Fourier series of a triangular-wave,
Kamen and Heck developed very good JAVA applets to support their book (the recommended text book for this course): http://users.ece.gatech.edu:80/~bonnie/book/
A very interesting JAVA on-line text book has been developed by Prof.David J.Eck at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, Hobart and William Smith Colleges, New York, USA. You may be tempted to visit this site: http://math.hws.edu/eck
Kamen,E.W. and B.S.Heck: Fundamentals of Signals and Systems Using Matlab, Prentice-Hall, Inc., New Jersey, 1997, (ISBN 0-02-361942-2)

Who Is Fourier? A Mathematical Adventure, (by Transnational College of LEX), Language Research Foundation, Boston, 1995, (ISBN 0-9643504-0-8). This is bit funny but very enternatining book about the Fourier transform written by students.
Gonzalez-Velasco,E.A.: Fourier Analysis and Boundary Value Problems, Academic Press, San Diego, 1995, (ISBN 0-12-289640-8). This book is recommended for more mathematics minded students.
